Aberystwyth Trains

Prior to 1976 the Cambrian Summer services were worked by Class 24 locomotives and Class 25's would only show up on excursion trains. From 1976 onwards Class 25 locos were the mainstay of these services through to the end of 1984. There are few records of these locomotives working in 1976 because the loco change was scheduled to take place at Shrewsbury and few enthusiasts were around to witness what was happening as there was so much variety elsewhere on the network. In latter years the loco change point became Wolverhampton but occassionally the locos working to Shrewsbury did not run round the train and were replaced by whatever was on the local stabline point!

Where an entry is shown in italics the train may (or may not) have gone through to Aberystwyth but the locos didn't as explained in the Comments! If you are unfamiliar with what happened to these services once worn out or poorly maintained locomotives started to be used then look at the records from 1983 onwards.
