Class 25 Action

From Crewe to Cardiff September 1975/January 1976

On 20th September 1975 (Top Left) 25031 works a van train south out of Shrewsbury station. An hour or two later it is seen (Top Right) at Hereford coming off that train to pick up a coach that had been left there.

(Bottom Left) Whilst 25031 drops onto the coach, 47122 heads through Hereford with a special working bound for South Wales. (Bottom Right) This was also the date of Crewe Open day and here 25264, 40130 and 47014 can be seen in front of the traverser.

On the 5th January (Top Left) 25080 waits outside Worcester Shrub Hill station with an engineers train and (Top Right) a little later 37307 runs through the station with an oil train, probably en route to Rowley Regis.

(Bottom Left) Despite the time of year 25166 is called into service to work a Birmingham bound train. (Bottom Right) Despite having no heat the loco sets off for Birmingham untaxed by a train consisting of just two coaches.

Saturday 17th January 1976 sees (Left) 25032 powering its way through Newport station heading towards Cardiff with a train including two brake tenders. (Centre and Right) that same day 25077 waits at Cardiff Canton depot in the company of (C) 37227 and 37289 and (R) 45071, 1030 " Western Musketeer" and 37176.
